Join the Team: We’re Hiring a Part-Time Retail Assistant in Chelston

Now, we’re on the lookout for a Part-Time Retail Assistant to join our friendly new team in Chelston, Taunton.

What’s the job?

This is a customer-facing role in our Chelston store, you’ll be the friendly face helping customers find what they need (and steering them away from buying a fourth collapsible bucket… unless they really want one). You’ll also be involved in keeping the shop clean, well-stocked, and running smoothly, as well as helping prep our online orders for collection when needed.

The basics:

🕒 Hours: Tuesday, Friday & Saturday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
📍 Location: Chelston, Taunton
💷 Salary: Minimum living wage, depends on experience
🚀 Start date: Immediate

Key responsibilities

This isn’t just a till job (although yes, you’ll get to master the mystical world of the card machine). Your day-to-day will include:

Greeting and assisting customers with product questions and purchases
Processing sales accurately and efficiently
Picking, packing and prepping click-and-collect orders
Replenishing stock and keeping displays tidy
Assisting with returns and exchanges
Helping the team keep the store clean, organised, and safe
Supporting daily tasks and getting stuck in wherever needed

About you

We’re not looking for a retail robot — just someone friendly, reliable, and happy to be part of a small, supportive team. If you’ve worked in retail or customer service before, that’s a bonus. But if you’ve got the right attitude and a knack for getting things done, we’ll teach you the rest.

You’ll probably enjoy the role if you:

Are confident talking to customers and offering help
Have good attention to detail and like things neat and tidy
Don’t mind a bit of lifting and shifting (stock waits for no one)
Are comfortable working independently and with others
Have an interest in camping, caravanning or motorhomes (not essential – but it does make for better tea-break chat)
